Obagi Nu-Derm® System

Chances are at one time in your life your unprotected skin was exposed to the sun while walking, gardening, kayaking, biking, swimming, or just ordinary sun tanning. Outdoor enthusiasts of the Adirondacks know this all too well. Over time, UV light can cause premature aging, produce fine lines, uneven skin tone, sun spots, freckles and loss of skin hydration. The end result: those days of fun in the sun have left you fearing the mirror.

As if sun damage weren't enough, many of us have other skin problems, such as adult acne, thinning skin, and diminished skin firmness that leads to sagging and droopiness. At Garcia Plastic Surgery, we have researched various skin care product lines in search of a non-surgical way to improve skin tone and reinvigorate skin. What we found is the Obagi Nu-Derm System. Whether you're 20, 70, or somewhere in between, this skin care product line can help you can age gracefully without anyone but you knowing your true age. These products also are used to prepare the skin for the Obagi Blue Peel®, performed at our Glens Falls office.

How It Works

The Obagi Nu-Derm System provides you with all you need for your daily skin care regimen. By using the Obagi products in steps to prepare, improve, and stimulate your skin, you will be able to achieve a younger, brighter complexion.

• Step 1: Cleanser. Soap-free daily cleanser is available for normal to dry or normal to oily skin. It gently removes impurities, oil, and makeup and prepares the skin.
• Step 2: Toner. The Obagi daily toner is formulated with a natural non-stinging astringent. It balances the skin's pH to prepare for "optimal penetration" during the remaining treatment steps.
• Step 3: Clear. The Clear product is formulated with 4% Hydroquinone to begin improving uneven skin color by lightening sun and age spots.
• Step 4: Exfoderm®. For normal to dry skin, Exfoderm contains phytic acid to help exfoliate dead surface skin cells. Normal to oily skin requires Exfoderm Forte, containing alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) to help exfoliate dead surface skin cells.
• Step 5: Blender®. This product is used with a Tretinoin cream to even out your skin tone and increase collagen and elastin formation while providing a healthier glow and more supple appearance.

Obagi also provides several other products to help with your ever-changing skin needs. Obagi Nu-Derm Healthy Skin Protection is a daily moisturizer that contains 9% zinc oxide and provides SPF 35 for sun protection. Obagi Nu-Derm Physical UV Block contains 18.5% micronized zinc oxide and is a thicker sunblock for those needing greater protection from the sun. ELASTIDerm™ is available for use around the eyes to help diminish fine lines.
